in passing
March 18th, 2008 by Lawrence David
arthur c. clarke passed on today. i just read his obituary and learned that he was the original author of the aphorism:
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.â€
the next time i try and explain microbial evolution to someone, i think i’m going to quote mr. clarke.
I can think of two things that work just like magic:
my wallet: magically converts green paper to white-paper. I don’t know how it does it, but I feel compelled to keep the magic working!
my sink: magically fills with dirty dishes about every 6 hours. I wash and clean those things everyday, and everyday, without fail, it refills itself! I should try to patent my sink if there was a market for dirty dishes.
that Arthur C. Clarke guy was a true sage.
Excellent, what a website it is! This blog presents valuable facts
to us, keep it up.
What degree could I get involving music AND creative writing?
